I have a feeling that this problem is going to require a PC repair man, the internet is full of people with the same problem and each thread has a different solution, none of which have worked in my case as yet. Install 1 update at a time until you find the culprit.
Go back to a Restore Point from before the Windows Updates. Uninstall that update (if it won't let you, then you will have to go back to the Restore Point again) and then hide that update from trying to install. Hmmmm yes could try that, only issue is that I haven't updated in a while, and by a while I mean 60 - 70 updates later.
Finding a single culprit could be a lengthy process.

Ah, also just checked and it appears that my computer has deleted all restore points except for the last one ... I also had to disable an invalid device in device manager to get my sound working again, but you might not have to do that.
